In the fall of 2002 Clan Carn held its first heavy champions tourney underneath a play shed at one of our practices.
In the few short years since the tourney has grown to include Rapier and Combat Archery and become one of the most
anticipated house events of the season. The lists are open to all membership levels of the house (Manrent, Clannet,
and Clan Member).
Heavy Champion
The best heavy fighter in a mercenary house like Carn should have knuckles that drag the ground and
not to many brains to get in the way. So to reflect those attributes Carn choose to name our heavy champion “Thug”.

Rapier Champion
Fencers and opera divas like attention! Being a mercenary doesn’t seem to diminish the need for applause
for even the most deadly of rapier fighters, hence the title “Bravo”. Second in importance in the hierarchy for
fencers is, yep you guessed it is wardrobe. So if you can’t fight good, Might as well look good.

Combat Archery Champion
Every army needs someone who can reach out on the war field and say hello in that special way. There
is nothing that says lay down and stop bothering my friends like a 30 foot pike to the armpit. So the “Sniper”
was born.

Overall Champion
Since the SCA and Carn cover many diverse forms of combat it was decided that an overall champion would
be named for the tournament beginning in 2006. The Iron Dog is presented to the warrior with the best all around
placement in the three fight disciplines.
